Alex Boot

Alex Boot is a professional saxophonist based in Christchurch, known for his dynamic performances across a wide range of genres and ensembles. Recent highlights include performing as a soloist with the Christchurch Symphony Orchestra (CSO) at Sparks in the Park 2025, appearances with Showbiz Christchurch for their production of Blood Brothers, and performing with the CSO for the musical Chicago. Alex has also featured at the Ōtautahi Smoke Festival with the band Sandfly, alongside regular performances with various jazz groups, pop/rock bands, and DJs throughout the city.

Upcoming engagements include a concert with the Symposium Big Band and a performance at Rhythm and Alps with Sandfly. In addition to his busy performing schedule, Alex teaches saxophone and clarinet both privately and across five Christchurch schools as an itinerant music teacher. Currently in his second year of Jazz Performance (Saxophone) at Ara Institute of Canterbury, Alex is steadily building a career as a dedicated full-time musician and educator.
